Police detain classmate who knew of Ketan Agarwal murder plot beforehand
In a significant twist, Mumbai police have detained a youth from Beed who allegedly knew about the murder plan targeting Ketan Agarwal before it happened. The man, a friend of accused Chetan Chaudhary, reportedly tried to dissuade them from the crime.
Mumbai police have taken a new suspect into custody in connection with the Ketan Agarwal murder case, uncovering what investigators believe is prior knowledge of the alleged crime. The detainee, a young man from Beed district, was a close friend and classmate of Chetan Chaudhary, one of the two primary accused in the case.
According to police officials, Chaudhary and his alleged accomplice Siya Goyal confided details of their murder plan to this youth before executing it. Investigators claim the detainee learned about their intentions to kill Agarwal but reportedly advised them against proceeding with the crime. Despite his attempts to dissuade them, the accused proceeded with their alleged plot. Following Agarwal's death on June 18 after a fall from Lohagad Fort, both Chaudhary and Goyal allegedly contacted the detainee, suggesting he may have played a role in understanding the aftermath of the incident.
The detention marks an escalation in the investigation, as authorities work to establish the full network surrounding the crime. Police are examining whether the detainee's knowledge of the murder plan, combined with his post-incident contact with the accused, constitutes criminal liability or mere witness involvement. His statements are being scrutinised to understand the timeline and details the accused shared with him regarding their intentions.
Ketan Agarwal's death at Lohagad Fort in Lonavala has triggered intense investigation after authorities determined it was not a simple accident. The involvement of Chaudhary and Goyal emerged through evidence gathered at the scene and during preliminary interrogations. The widening circle of people connected to the case—including this classmate—suggests the conspiracy may have involved planning and coordination among multiple individuals.
Investigators are now focused on determining whether other individuals were aware of the plot or played supporting roles. The detainee's cooperation and detailed account could prove crucial in establishing the motive, planning phase, and execution of what police believe was a premeditated murder. Police say further questioning will reveal whether he faces charges as an accomplice, accessory, or witness in the case.
