Government launches probe into iPhone 18 Pro leak from Tata data breach

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has confirmed it is actively investigating reports that confidential iPhone 18 Pro specifications were exposed during a significant data breach affecting Tata enterprises. A senior official from MeitY stated the ministry is looking into the matter with appropriate seriousness.

The breach allegedly compromised sensitive information stored within Tata's systems, including unreleased Apple product details. This represents a potentially serious incident involving intellectual property theft of one of the world's most valuable tech companies. The investigation aims to determine the scope of the breach, identify those responsible, and assess what additional data may have been compromised.

Data breaches involving multinational corporations have become increasingly common in India, raising concerns about cybersecurity infrastructure and corporate data protection standards. Such incidents can have far-reaching consequences, affecting not just the companies directly involved but also their employees and customers whose information may be at risk.

The exposure of unreleased product specifications is particularly concerning as it could disrupt Apple's carefully planned product launch strategy and give competitors advance knowledge of upcoming features. This incident underscores the vulnerability of even large, well-resourced organizations to sophisticated cyber attacks.

MeitY's investigation will likely examine security protocols at Tata facilities and coordinate with relevant law enforcement agencies. Apple has not issued an official statement regarding the leak, though the company typically takes a measured approach to unconfirmed reports about unreleased products.
