Aadhaar App Now Lets Users Update Email Address Directly

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new feature enabling Aadhaar cardholders to update their registered email address through the official Aadhaar mobile application. This digital convenience eliminates the need for citizens to visit enrollment centers or government offices for such routine updates.

The updated Aadhaar app now provides a self-service option where users can log in with their biometric or demographic credentials and modify their email information within minutes. The change takes effect immediately upon verification, streamlining a process that previously required physical documentation and in-person verification at designated centers across the country.

This move aligns with UIDAI's broader digitalization initiative aimed at making identity verification services more accessible to India's vast population. As digital communication becomes increasingly central to government services and banking operations, the ability to maintain accurate contact information has become essential for smooth service delivery.

The feature is particularly beneficial for individuals who have changed their email addresses due to account security concerns, provider switches, or updated personal preferences. By enabling online updates, UIDAI reduces bureaucratic friction and encourages citizens to keep their biometric records current and accurate.

The rollout comes as India continues expanding digital governance infrastructure. This update strengthens the integration between the Aadhaar system and modern digital workflows, ensuring that government communications, tax notices, pension disbursements, and other services reach citizens reliably. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to leveraging technology for administrative efficiency.

Aadhaar cardholders can access this feature immediately through the latest version of the official Aadhaar app available on both Android and iOS platforms.
