RSS demands action over Ram Temple donation controversy, warns of conspiracies
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has expressed anger over alleged misuse of donations at Ayodhya's Ram Temple, calling for strict accountability. RSS leadership warned the Hindu community to stay alert against those seeking to exploit the scandal.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has reacted sharply to allegations of donation embezzlement at the Ayodhya Ram Temple, demanding swift and severe action against those responsible for the misconduct.
RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale issued a statement expressing the organisation's deep pain and anger over the controversy. He called for strict measures against the culprits involved in the alleged financial irregularities at the temple. Hosabale also urged members of the Hindu community to remain watchful and alert, warning them against those who might attempt to misuse the incident to tarnish the image of Hindu institutions and the broader community.
The RSS general secretary welcomed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe that has been initiated to look into the matter. However, he stressed that the temple administration must ensure complete transparency in its financial operations and fundraising activities going forward. According to Hosabale, maintaining public trust and preserving devotees' faith in the institution should be the top priority for temple authorities.
The controversy has sparked concerns within Hindu nationalist circles about the management of sacred donations. The RSS's response highlights the sensitivity surrounding the Ram Temple, which holds immense religious and political significance for the organisation and its supporters. The temple, which opened to devotees in January 2024 after decades of legal battles, has already become a major pilgrimage destination.
The SIT investigation is expected to examine the flow of donations and identify any irregularities in their utilisation. The probe comes at a time when the Ram Temple is collecting substantial contributions from millions of devotees visiting the shrine. Hosabale's statement underscores the RSS's expectation that authorities will maintain the sanctity and credibility of the institution through transparent and accountable practices.
The organisation's warning about potential "anti-Hindu conspiracies" reflects its broader concern that detractors might exploit administrative failures at religious institutions to discredit Hindu community organisations and their work.
