Rower Salman Khan To Represent India At Asian Games 2026

After four months of hard preparation, Salman cleared the recruitment rally, medical, and written exams, and joined the Bombay Engineer Group (BEG), Kirkee, Pune, on 25 September 2018.

It was at the training center that Salman was introduced to rowing by his coaches, who noticed his height and physique. Initially, Salman was hesitant to take up the sport due to his family's financial situation. However, the coaches persisted and eventually convinced him to give it a try.

Salman's first experience with rowing was not exactly smooth sailing. He had no interest in the sport and refused multiple times. But the coaches saw his potential and trained him rigorously. It was only when Salman competed in his first inter-centre regatta and won a silver medal that he began to gain confidence in his abilities.

The real turning point came in 2021 when Salman cleared the ergometer benchmarks and was selected for the Army Rowing Node (ARN) at CME Pune. Training alongside India's best rowers under the guidance of experienced coaches made Salman realize that rowing was his true calling.

Today, Salman is a proud member of the Indian rowing team and is all set to represent the country at the Asian Games 2026. His incredible journey is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
