Mumbai Crime Branch Seizes ₹10.09 Crore Charas, Arrests Bihar Supplier

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a suspected drug supplier from Bihar in connection with the seizure of 10.090 kg of charas worth approximately ₹10.09 crore. The accused, Jakir Hussain Mohammad Esak, a 56-year-old resident of Raxaul, East Champaran, Bihar, was arrested on August 23 with the assistance of local police.

The arrest was made while the accused was allegedly preparing to flee to Nepal. The ANC's Worli Unit had initially intercepted a person near Bandra Terminus in Bandra East, Mumbai, on August 17, and seized 10 kg and 90 grams of charas valued at approximately ₹10,09,00,000.

A case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, at Nirmal Nagar Police Station. During the subsequent investigation, the arrested accused allegedly disclosed information about the person who had supplied him with the charas.

The ANC Worli Unit formed a team to trace the suspected supplier, and with the assistance of local police, they traced the accused to Raxaul, East Champaran district, Motihari, Bihar. The team was led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Salunkhe, with assistance from Police Sub-Inspector Kiran Wagh and other personnel.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Pournima Chougule-Shringi, with Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hirdekar and other senior officers overseeing the operation.
