Maharashtra Probes Nashik Ring Road Alignment Change

The Maharashtra government has announced a probe into the alleged change in alignment of the proposed Nashik ring road project. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule assured the assembly that the investigation would be completed within three days.

The probe was announced in response to a calling attention motion moved by Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar. Bawankule said the government would examine why the alignment of the ring road was altered. The ring road is considered crucial for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik.

The inquiry will also scrutinise land transactions in the project area over the past three years. This is to determine whether any purchases were made with prior knowledge of the proposed alignment or with vested interests. If it is found that the alignment was deliberately changed, the matter will be investigated through the Chief Secretary.

Bawankule also announced that allegations made by public representatives against Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad would be examined through the Chief Secretary. The minister defended IAS officer Pavan Datta, who had faced criticism for wearing a helmet during a land measurement exercise.

The minister said the officer had acted purely for his safety. Some protesters had allegedly attempted self-immolation and brought kerosene bottles during the survey, creating a serious law and order situation. The officer wore a helmet only as a precaution against possible stone-pelting or attacks.

Reiterating the government's stand on land acquisition, Bawankule said farmers would be consulted before any further steps were taken. They would receive compensation as per the provisions of the land acquisition law. If farmers seek additional assistance from the government, it will also be considered positively.

There will be no forcible acquisition of land, the minister said. The issue was also raised in the House by local MLA Saroj Ahire, who demanded attention to farmers' concerns over the project. The Nashik ring road project is a crucial infrastructure development for the city, especially with the upcoming Kumbh Mela.

The project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the city. However, the alleged change in alignment has raised concerns among farmers and local residents. The government's probe into the matter is expected to provide clarity on the issue and address the concerns of the affected parties.

The Maharashtra government's decision to investigate the alleged alignment change is a significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in infrastructure development projects. The probe is expected to have a positive impact on the project's progress and the affected communities.

In the context of Maharashtra's infrastructure development, the Nashik ring road project is a key initiative. The project's successful completion is crucial for the state's economic growth and development. The government's commitment to transparency and accountability in the project is a welcome step towards ensuring that the project benefits all stakeholders.

The probe into the alleged alignment change is also significant in the context of the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik. The event is expected to attract millions of visitors, and the ring road project is crucial for ensuring smooth traffic flow and connectivity in the city. The government's decision to investigate the matter is a timely step towards addressing the concerns of the affected parties and ensuring the project's successful completion.

In conclusion, the Maharashtra government's probe into the alleged alignment change in the Nashik ring road project is a significant development. The investigation is expected to provide clarity on the issue and address the concerns of the affected parties. The project's successful completion is crucial for the state's economic growth and development, and the government's commitment to transparency and accountability is a welcome step towards ensuring that the project benefits all stakeholders.
