CM Yogi Adityanath Honours UP Weavers With Awards

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honoured weavers and beneficiaries across various categories at the Sant Kabir State-Level Handloom Awards ceremony in Lucknow. The ceremony saw the distribution of cheques to the winners, with each receiving a citation and trophy.

The winners included Jamaluddin from Varanasi, who received the first prize in the Honouring Weavers Saree, Brocade & Dress Material Category, and Aqeel Ahmad from Sitapur, who received the first prize in the Cotton Durrie, Woollen Durrie, Asani & Daret Category. Kafeel Ahmad from Bijnor and Pyarelal from Varanasi also received first prizes in their respective categories.

In addition to the awards, the Chief Minister also signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with major buyers of handloom products. The MoUs were exchanged with the Handloom Export Promotion Council, Chennai, Damera Tata Group, Bengaluru, DTDC Cargo, the International Fashion Business Exchange Council, Mumbai, and Prateek Kumar of Kanpur.

The MoUs aim to boost market access for handloom products and provide a platform for weavers to showcase their products. The ceremony also saw the honouring of beneficiaries under the Jhalkari Bai Kori Handloom & Powerloom Development Scheme and the Chief Minister Handloom & Powerloom Industry Development Scheme.

The beneficiaries received cheques ranging from ₹78,000 to ₹93,000. The schemes aim to promote the development of the handloom and powerloom industry in the state and provide financial assistance to weavers.
