BMC Launches Citywide Clean-up Drive in Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a citywide clean-up drive in Mumbai, with a focus on improving sanitation measures across the city.

The decision was made during a high-level review meeting chaired by BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal's subordinate, at the BMC headquarters on Saturday.

During the meeting, all assistant commissioners were directed to intensify sanitation measures, with a particular emphasis on key areas such as markets, major roads, footpaths, public spaces, beaches, nullahs, and the surroundings of other water bodies.

The BMC has identified these areas as being in need of urgent attention, and the clean-up drive aims to address the issue of litter and waste in these locations.

As part of the clean-up drive, the BMC also plans to install CCTV cameras at garbage hotspots across the city. This move is intended to help monitor and prevent littering and dumping of waste in these areas.
