The UP-Japan Healthcare and Care Economy Partnership sectoral session was held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, where speakers highlighted the potential benefits of combining Uttar Pradesh's young workforce with Japan's advanced technology.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak noted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of the country's fastest-growing economies under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He attributed this growth to improvements in law and order, expansion of expressways, enhanced air connectivity, reliable power supply, and other infrastructure facilities.
Pathak also highlighted the progress made in medical education, with the number of medical colleges in the state increasing from 47 to over 83. He suggested that Uttar Pradesh can play an important role in meeting Japan's growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals by supplying doctors, pharmacists, nursing staff, and medical technicians.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Ghosh said that Uttar Pradesh offers vast potential for collaboration with Japan in the healthcare sector. He mentioned that a new generation of startup entrepreneurs has actively participated in recent investment initiatives, and MoUs were signed with 12 pharmaceutical companies in a single day.
Ghosh also noted that Japanese companies are showing keen interest in investing in Uttar Pradesh, and efforts are underway to bring Japanese technology to the state. Work is being done to explore new possibilities in robotics technology with Japanese cooperation, and plans are being prepared to develop a Medical Tech Park spread over nearly 400 acres.
Minister for Vocational Education and Skill Development Kapil Dev Agarwal said that India's global standing has strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of skill development and vocational education in driving economic growth.
