Mahayuti Alliance Finalises District Fund Formula

The Mahayuti alliance, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has finalised a formula for the distribution of district-level development funds in Maharashtra.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Mahayuti Coordination Committee, which aimed to resolve several contentious issues, including differences among alliance partners at the local level and the pending allocation of government corporations.

According to the formula, 70 per cent of the district-level development funds will be directly allocated to local MLAs for development works, while the remaining 30 per cent will be retained by the respective guardian ministers. A mechanism has also been introduced to resolve disputes over fund allocation. In districts where differences arise among Mahayuti constituents, the issue will first be referred to the divisional commissioner for resolution. If no agreement is reached, the Coordination Committee will intervene.

The meeting also discussed the long-pending allocation of government corporations, with the final allocation expected to be approved within the next 15 days. The Coordination Committee has instructed MLAs and MPs of the alliance to maintain complete coordination at the local level and not publicly criticise leaders or parties belonging to the alliance.

The Mahayuti alliance consists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, and other smaller parties. The alliance has been in power in Maharashtra since 2014.
