UP Govt Orders Faster Electricity Connections

The Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh has taken steps to accelerate industrial and commercial activities by making the electricity connection process faster and more transparent.

In a review meeting on the power sector, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), Dr Ashish Kumar Goyal, issued strict instructions to officials. He emphasized that promoting industrial and business activities is a key priority for the government.

Dr Goyal directed officials to dispose of applications for electricity connections received through platforms like the Nivesh Mitra Portal at the earliest. He stated that providing electricity connections is the responsibility of the power corporation and delays are unacceptable.

The UPPCL Chairman reviewed the functioning of power utilities and directed that complaints regarding delays in providing electricity connections would invite action and vigilance inquiries against responsible officials. He instructed officials to monitor the status of each application and resolve pending matters immediately.

During the meeting, Dr Goyal reviewed the power supply situation in urban, tehsil, and rural areas, feeder meter data, and distribution-related performance parameters. He instructed officials to regularly analyze feeder-level data and take corrective measures wherever shortcomings are identified.

The progress of special camps for electricity bill corrections was also reviewed. Officials were directed to maximize on-the-spot resolution of consumers' billing-related complaints through these camps.

Dr Goyal reviewed the action being taken in areas and feeders with high line losses and instructed officials to prepare feeder-wise action plans and ensure regular follow-up action. He also reviewed the status of centralized material tenders, damaged distribution transformers, and action taken against personnel responsible for such cases.

The Chairman directed officials to expedite the installation of fuse sets on distribution transformers with capacities below 100 kVA. He emphasized that targets related to revenue enhancement, reduction of line losses, and improved billing can only be achieved when accountability is ensured at every level.

Dr Goyal instructed officials to regularly monitor targets, adopt a results-oriented approach, and ensure the delivery of better, transparent, and uninterrupted power services to consumers.

The Uttar Pradesh government's focus on improving the power sector is expected to boost industrial and commercial activities in the state. With the emphasis on transparency and accountability, consumers can expect better services and faster electricity connections.

The government's efforts to reduce line losses, improve billing, and enhance revenue will also contribute to the overall development of the state. As the power sector continues to evolve, the Uttar Pradesh government's initiatives are likely to have a positive impact on the state's economy and residents.
