UP Govt To Establish Vatikas Across 75 Districts On Independence Day

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to establish special forests, known as Vatikas, across all 75 districts on Independence Day.

As part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, the Forest Department will plant 150 saplings in each district, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram.

The initiative aims to promote environmental protection and patriotism, while also encouraging public participation in the development of these Vatikas.

The Forest Department has begun preparations for the establishment of 'Vande Mataram Vatika' in every district, where shady, fruit-bearing, and ecologically beneficial species will be planted.

Responsibility for the care of these plants will be assigned locally, ensuring the campaign's lasting impact as a green heritage.

Sitanshu Pandey, Divisional Forest Officer of the Awadh Forest Division, stated that the Vande Mataram Vatika at Kukrail Picnic Spot will be expanded on Independence Day, with an Ashoka Chakra constructed and Ashoka saplings planted around its 24 spokes.

Deepak Kumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry), emphasized the importance of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, which will involve widespread public participation, including public representatives, students, non-governmental organizations, and social groups.

The sapling plantation program will serve as a tribute to nature and convey a message of patriotism, nature conservation, and community participation to future generations.

The initiative is part of the state government's efforts to promote environmental protection and conservation, while also fostering a sense of patriotism and community involvement.

The establishment of Vatikas across all districts is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and promote a culture of sustainability in the state.

Overall, the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and the establishment of Vatikas on Independence Day reflect the state government's commitment to environmental protection and community development.

The campaign's focus on public participation and community involvement is likely to contribute to its success and lasting impact.

As the state celebrates Independence Day, the establishment of Vatikas will serve as a reminder of the importance of environmental protection and conservation, and the role that individuals can play in promoting sustainability.
