Bhopal Master Plan To Inform Metropolitan Map

The proposed Master Plan for Bhopal is expected to provide detailed inputs for the wider Metropolitan Plan, according to Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) CEO Shyambeer Singh.

The Metropolitan Plan will serve as a regional framework, focusing on connectivity, major development opportunities, and long-term growth vision for the wider Bhopal region.

In contrast, the Master Plan will deal with detailed land use and ground-level implementation within Bhopal.

Singh noted that the metropolitan exercise could identify areas suitable for logistics, industry, or other major activities, with such broad findings subsequently incorporated into respective Master Plans.

Areas including Raisen, Sehore, and Mandideep could also benefit from the exercise.

Meanwhile, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued more than 8,200 notices to commercial stores operating in residential areas.

The BMC has recorded more than 170 establishments as closed, but only 10 properties were actually sealed as part of the enforcement action.

Of these, three establishments allegedly broke their seals, but the corporation has not yet taken further action against them.

The BMC's sealing drive has been halted amid ongoing legal proceedings, with a hearing scheduled for September 7.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the government is committed to raising all concerns related to Bhopal before the Supreme Court and will make every possible effort to find a permanent and effective solution.

The government is considering all aspects of the matter and will act in accordance with the Supreme Court's directions.

The Master Plan and Metropolitan Plan exercises are crucial for the development of Bhopal and its surrounding areas.
