UP Govt Approves ₹3,025 Crore Mandi Budget, Expands Farmer Scholarship Scheme

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the expansion of the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana, a scholarship scheme for meritorious children of farmers, to benefit more eligible students.

This decision was made during the 172nd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Council, which was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday.

The meeting approved several important proposals related to farmer welfare, agricultural marketing, and the mandi system, including a budget of ₹3025.49 crore for the year 2026-27. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to modernize and equip the state's mandis with modern facilities to provide farmers with a better marketing system.

He also directed that basic facilities in mandis, including drinking water, sanitation, and lighting, be strengthened. The establishment of agricultural produce processing units in mandi premises under the PPP model was encouraged, and rules were made more practical and investment-friendly to ensure farmers receive better prices for their produce.

The Chief Minister also directed that more mandis be connected to the e-NAM platform, and that more farmers be linked with the National Natural Farming Mission. Certification arrangements for organic products will be ensured in every district.

The revised income and expenditure estimates for the financial year 2025-26 and the budget for the year 2026-27 were approved during the meeting. The budget includes provisions for the construction and expansion of mandi sites, link roads, rural haats, Kisan Bazaars, cow shelters, and hostel construction.

A significant increase of 15.79 percent was registered in the income of the state's Mandi Committees, from ₹1991.33 crore in the year 2024-25 to ₹2305.80 crore in the year 2025-26.

The Board of Directors also approved the proposal to extend the duration of the Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Sahayata Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Khet-Khalihan Agnikand Durghatna Sahayata Yojana.

The expansion of the farmer scholarship scheme and the approval of the mandi budget are expected to benefit farmers and their families in Uttar Pradesh, providing them with better marketing facilities and financial support.

The move is seen as a significant step towards improving the lives of farmers in the state, and is expected to have a positive impact on the agricultural sector as a whole.

The decisions made during the meeting demonstrate the government's commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural development, and are expected to contribute to the overall growth and development of the state.

In conclusion, the expansion of the farmer scholarship scheme and the approval of the mandi budget are important developments that are expected to benefit farmers and the agricultural sector in Uttar Pradesh.
