Mumbai Cops Injured as Triple-Riding Biker Rams Into Nakabandi

A speeding motorcycle allegedly rammed into two police officers who were conducting a nakabandi to enforce traffic rules in central Mumbai on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on August 26 at Dnyaneshwar Junction near R.A.K. Marg.

The motorcycle, a Bajaj Pulsar 220, was being ridden by 20-year-old Ibrahim Qadar Tamboli with two pillion riders, 22-year-old Nikhil Somnath Jaiswar and 19-year-old Arman Firoz Khan. Police personnel had set up a nakabandi at the R.A.K. Marg four-road junction to regulate traffic in connection with Eid-e-Milad arrangements.

According to the FIR, Police Constable Jitendra Laxman Pardeshi, who was deployed for law-and-order duty, stated that the motorcycle was spotted being ridden at high speed with three persons on board. When police personnel signalled the rider to stop, Tamboli allegedly accelerated instead of stopping and rode the motorcycle towards the officers.

The motorcycle allegedly hit Police Inspector Jitendra Kuwar, causing an injury to his right leg. Tamboli then allegedly accelerated again and rammed into Senior Police Inspector Vinod Tawde, who was deployed at the nakabandi. Tawde fell to the ground and sustained serious injuries to the front of his head and right leg.

After the collision, the motorcycle also hit another two-wheeler that was stopped in traffic. The three riders fell onto the road along with their motorcycle and allegedly attempted to flee from the spot but were chased and apprehended by police personnel.

During questioning, police identified the three riders as residents of Dharavi. The motorcycle had no visible number plates, but police were able to trace it using the vehicle's chassis number and an e-challan machine. The motorcycle was registered under the number MH-47-F-6556, and Tamboli allegedly admitted that it belonged to him.
