Indore Hosts Lata Mangeshkar Award Ceremony on Sept 28

The city of Indore in Madhya Pradesh will host the two-day National Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony and musical programme on September 27 and 28.

The main ceremony, where the award will be presented, will take place on September 28, which is also the birth anniversary of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The recipient of the award is expected to be announced soon.

Divisional Commissioner Bhaskar Lakshakar recently reviewed the preparations for the ceremony at a meeting, where he directed officials to ensure adequate arrangements at the venue. The event will be held at the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Paraspar Nagar.

The National Lata Mangeshkar Award is conferred alternately for music direction and playback singing. This year's award category is expected to be announced soon. An exhibition of rare photographs chronicling Mangeshkar's life will also be organised as part of the event.

On September 27, a Sugam Sangeet competition will provide a platform for emerging talent, followed by a special performance by local musicians in the afternoon. The musical evening will feature Sachet and Parampara Tandon along with their troupe.

The meeting to review preparations was attended by several officials, including Additional Collector Navjeevan Vijay Pawar, Culture Department Director NP Namdev, and cultural activist Shriram Tiwari.

The officials have been directed to ensure adequate arrangements at the venue, including parking, lighting, power backup, drinking water, basic amenities, sanitation, ambulance services, and fire safety.
