PM Modi Inaugurates Redeveloped Koppal Railway Station

The Koppal Railway Station was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The station has been redeveloped at an estimated cost of ₹21.14 crore, with the goal of modernizing infrastructure, enhancing passenger amenities, and improving operational efficiency.

As part of the redevelopment, a new G+1 station building with a built-up area of 1,508 sq. m. has been constructed. This provides improved booking facilities, spacious waiting halls, and enhanced passenger amenities.

A 600 sq. m. circulating area has also been developed to facilitate smooth vehicular movement, better parking, and improved accessibility.

Passenger facilities have been significantly upgraded with full-length platform shelters, a new 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) constructed at a cost of ₹5.7 crore, along with 2 lifts and 2 escalators.

The station has also been equipped with modern amenities including LED lighting, LED platform name boards, Coach Indication Boards, Train Indication Boards, Public Address System, station clocks, upgraded toilets, improved parking facilities, landscaping, and an aesthetically enhanced station façade.

Hasan Sab Dotihal, Chairman of the Command Area Development Authority (CADA) for Tungabhadra, thanked the Prime Minister for the redevelopment of Koppal Railway Station. He highlighted its importance in serving pilgrims and tourists visiting Hampi and Anjanadri Temple, as well as meeting the travel needs of the local population.

Member of Parliament Rajshekar Hitnal expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the redevelopment of Koppal Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He stated that the project would strengthen regional connectivity and contribute to the overall development of the region.

The programme was attended by senior railway officials, including Hasan Sab Dotihal, Sanjay Kumar, Santosh Chandran, and Vinayak R. Nayak.

The redevelopment of Koppal Railway Station is expected to have a positive impact on the region, improving the travel experience for passengers and contributing to the local economy.

In terms of significance, the redevelopment of Koppal Railway Station is a notable example of the government's efforts to modernize and improve the country's railway infrastructure. This is in line with the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to upgrade and redevelop railway stations across the country.
