Ujjain Collector Denies Stampede Rumors Amid Nag Panchami Rush

Ujjain Collector Raushan Kumar Singh has appealed to devotees not to believe rumors amid a heavy rush in Ujjain on Nag Panchami.

In a video message, Singh stated that over six lakh devotees have visited the temples, and despite the large crowd, there has been no stampede-like situation or chaos.

The collector's statement came amid reports and videos circulating about heavy crowd pressure in Ujjain during the Nag Panchami celebrations. Some videos showed devotees pushing each other as the crowd surged towards the barricades.

However, Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee member Pratham Kaushik dismissed the reports as a “rumour” and said there was no stampede-like situation at the temple.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is also giving instructions to the administration continuously to ensure smooth darshan arrangements.

The collector appealed to devotees to follow the darshan arrangements and not believe any rumors.

The Nag Panchami celebrations in Ujjain have drawn a large number of devotees, with thousands gathering for darshan at the Nagchandreshwar Temple, which opened for 24 hours on the occasion.

Heavy crowds were witnessed around the Mahakal Temple and on nearby roads as large numbers of devotees gathered for the special darshan of Lord Mahakal and Nagchandreshwar.

Despite the collector's assurance, some devotees were injured in a stampede-like situation near the Harsiddhi Temple, and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The incident highlights the need for effective crowd management during large religious gatherings.
