Bhopal Cyber Scams: ₹32 Lakh Lost

Five residents of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, were duped of more than ₹32 lakh in separate cyber scam incidents reported on Friday. The cases were registered at different police stations across the city, and investigations are currently underway.

In one of the incidents, Ayush Bavaria, a resident of Gulmohar Colony, filed a complaint at the Shahpura police station, alleging that Amit Sharma and Darshan Sharma cheated him of ₹3.90 lakh. The suspects had promised lucrative returns on investment but failed to return the money.

Another case was reported in the same area, where Rakesh Mahrotra lost ₹44,998 after receiving a fraudulent phone call from an unidentified person. The caller gained access to Mahrotra's bank account, resulting in the loss.

In the Bag Sewania police station area, Asima Mukherjee, a resident of Alkapuri, received a fake bank link on her mobile phone. After clicking on the link, ₹95,000 was debited from her account.

A similar complaint was filed in the same locality by Rinchu Rai, who alleged that Mohit Bharti and Kushal Malviya defrauded him of ₹26.84 lakh. A case has been registered against both suspects.

In the Tila Jamalpura police station area, an unidentified cyber fraudster allegedly cheated Abhishek of ₹88,000 through an online scam.

The incidents highlight the growing concern of cyber scams in the city, with residents losing significant amounts of money to fraudulent activities. The police are urging residents to be cautious when receiving phone calls or clicking on links from unknown sources.
