Gold Prices Drop ₹2,800 To ₹1.57 Lakh In Delhi

Gold prices in Delhi declined by ₹2,800 to ₹1,57,000 per 10 grams on Thursday, snapping a seven-session rally. The price drop was due to traders booking profits after a recent surge.

The yellow metal of 99.9 per cent purity had closed at ₹1,59,800 per 10 grams on Wednesday. Silver prices also fell, tumbling ₹6,000 to ₹2,40,000 per kilogram.

According to Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities, gold traded lower on Thursday as investors booked profits, following a softer US inflation outcome. The retreat was echoed in international markets, with spot gold trading 0.43 per cent lower at $4,389.67 per ounce.

Praveen Singh, Head of Commodities at Mirae Asset ShareKhan, said traders booked profits as the US July Consumer Price Index inflation data came in line with forecasts. Crude oil prices edged lower, while the dollar index remained steady.

The price drop comes after a recent surge in gold prices. Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst at HDFC Securities, said investors' attention has shifted to the US producer price index for further clues on inflation and the Federal Reserve's policy path.

A lower producer price index reading could strengthen hopes for a more relaxed approach from the Fed and boost prices for precious metals. On the other hand, a higher-than-expected result could raise worries about ongoing inflation and lead to selling.

The decline in gold prices may be a sign of a market correction, after a prolonged rally. However, it is essential to keep an eye on the upcoming economic data releases to gauge the future direction of gold prices.

In the context of the Indian market, the decline in gold prices may impact the demand for the metal, especially during the upcoming festive season. The prices of gold and silver are closely watched by investors and consumers alike, as they are seen as a hedge against inflation and a store of value.

The recent surge in gold prices was driven by concerns over inflation and economic uncertainty. However, with the US inflation data coming in line with forecasts, the market may be pricing in a more optimistic outlook for the economy.

In conclusion, the decline in gold prices is a significant development in the market, and investors should keep a close eye on the upcoming economic data releases to gauge the future direction of gold prices.

The impact of the decline in gold prices on the Indian market will be closely watched, especially during the upcoming festive season. The prices of gold and silver are an essential part of the Indian economy, and any fluctuations can have a significant impact on the market.
