Bhopal Civic Body Seals 3 Commercial Establishments

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched a sealing drive against commercial establishments operating illegally in residential areas on Saturday. The drive began in Rohit Nagar and will continue in other identified localities.

The first enforcement action was taken at Rudraksha Square, where a tattoo studio and a skin clinic were sealed. Later, the BMC also sealed Hotel Raj Mahal at Akriti Eco City in Salaiya.

According to officials, the drive was carried out in compliance with Supreme Court directives, with the next hearing scheduled for August 4. Notices were issued to all building owners as per rules, and most traders voluntarily stopped commercial activities.

However, some traders reopened their establishments soon after the BMC team left the area. The traders' association had appealed to hotel, restaurant, and showroom owners to keep businesses shut until the Supreme Court hearing on August 4.

The operation witnessed brief tension in Bawadiya Kalan when a former councillor opposed the sealing of a tattoo studio, alleging that traders had been left in uncertainty after receiving notices.

The BMC has issued more than 1,018 notices to commercial establishments operating from residential premises across the city, with the highest number served in Arera Colony and Bawadiya Kalan.

The civic body will continue sealing action against establishments that fail to comply with the notices. The drive is expected to continue in Rohit Nagar Phase II, Bawadiya Kalan, and other identified residential localities.
