Mumbai Water Stock Reaches 88.88%

Mumbai's water stock has risen to 88.88% of its live storage capacity, with the city's seven lakes recording a 0.18% increase in their combined useful water content.

According to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department, the total water stock stood at 88.88% on Monday, up from 88.70% the previous day. The combined useful water content in Mumbai's seven lakes is around 12,86,403 million litres, against the total live storage capacity of 14,47,363 million litres.

The rise in water stock comes amid continued rainfall across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region during the ongoing monsoon. The major reservoirs have recorded significant water levels, with Upper Vaitarna at 80.14%, Modak Sagar at 99.99%, Tansa at 99.02%, and Middle Vaitarna at 91.18% of their live storage capacity.

Bhatsa has recorded 86.43% of its live storage, while Vihar and Tulsi lakes are completely full at 100% each. Vihar and Tulsi lakes started overflowing on July 7, while Tansa Dam began overflowing on July 22 and Modak Sagar on July 23.
