BEST Bus Driver Undergoes Alcohol Test After Fatal Mulund Accident

A fatal accident occurred at Mulund Check Naka on August 7, resulting in the death of a 56-year-old woman. The woman, identified as Jayshri Bhanaji Parmar, was crossing the road when she came into contact with the front right corner of a BEST bus and was run over by its right-side tyre.

The incident took place around 2:30 pm when the Route 512/35 bus was travelling from Nerul towards Mulund. The bus was halted at a traffic signal at Mulund Check Naka when the accident occurred.

According to the BEST report, when the signal turned green and the bus moved, the woman fell on the road and was run over by the bus's tyre. The driver, Ravi Bhagwant Bhoise, 33, and the conductor were taken to Mulund police station after the accident.

An alcohol test was conducted on the driver at Agrawal Hospital after an objection was raised against him. The police have retained the driver and the bus pending further investigation.

The driver has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. An accidental death case was registered against the driver on August 8.
