Aamir Khan Denies 'Love Jihad' Claims

Aamir Khan has dismissed allegations that his marriages are examples of 'Love Jihad', a term used to describe the alleged conversion of Hindu women to Islam after marriage. The actor clarified that none of his partners, including his current wife Gauri Spratt, converted to Islam.

The controversy surrounding Aamir's marriages resurfaced on social media after some politicians and netizens questioned his relationships with non-Muslim women. Aamir addressed the issue, stating that his partners, including Gauri, Kiran Rao, and Reena Dutta, did not convert to Islam as they had civil marriages.

Aamir revealed that Gauri is a Christian and not a practising one. He said, 'Life is getting more comical as time passes.' The actor emphasized that his relationships have always been built on mutual respect and personal choice rather than religious considerations.

Aamir also spoke about his family's outlook on interfaith marriages, saying that such relationships have long been accepted within his household. He mentioned that his sisters are married to Hindus and his daughter is also married to a Hindu.

Meanwhile, a fatwa has been issued against Aamir Khan by a Muslim cleric, stating that a Muslim man cannot marry a non-Muslim woman unless she converts to Islam. BJP leader Nitesh Rane also criticized Aamir's marriage, questioning whether it should be viewed as an example of 'love jihad'.

Aamir married Gauri in an intimate ceremony at his residence in Mumbai's Bandra on July 5. Before marrying Gauri, Aamir was married to Reena Dutta from 1986 to 2002 and later tied the knot with filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005.

The couple announced their separation in 2021 but have continued to share an amicable relationship while co-parenting their son. Aamir's statement comes amid a growing debate on interfaith marriages and the 'love jihad' narrative in India.

The issue has sparked a wider discussion on the role of religion in personal relationships and the acceptance of interfaith marriages in Indian society. Aamir's clarification on his marriages highlights the need for greater understanding and respect for individual choices in matters of faith and relationships.

In conclusion, Aamir Khan's statement has brought attention to the importance of mutual respect and personal choice in relationships, regardless of religious considerations. The controversy surrounding his marriages serves as a reminder of the ongoing debate on interfaith marriages and the need for greater acceptance and understanding in Indian society.
