Shots Fired Outside Businessman's House in Goregaon

A land dispute in Goregaon, Bhopal, turned violent when two rounds were allegedly fired outside the house of 60-year-old real estate businessman Santosh Singh Tomar at 2:30 am on Friday.

Tomar reported to the Ratibad police that more than half a dozen men arrived in an SUV, opened fire outside his gate, and fled after threatening to kill him.

The incident is believed to be connected to a long-standing dispute over alleged illegal plotting on land in the area by a resident, Lakhan Maran.

Tomar had earlier complained about the issue and claimed to have received threatening phone calls warning him to stop his business and leave the area.

The police are now investigating whether the threats and the firing incident are linked.

CCTV cameras around Tomar's residence captured the SUV arriving and leaving shortly after the firing, but no person can be seen firing in the available footage.

The police are examining the recordings to establish the sequence of events and identify the vehicle and suspects.

The police station in-charge, Rasbihari Sharma, said the case is under investigation, and they are examining CCTV footage and evidence collected from the spot to identify those involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the firing.

The dispute between Tomar and Maran has been ongoing, with Tomar claiming that Maran has been involved in illegal plotting on the land.
