NCP-SP Slams Santosh Pandit Arrest

Social media influencer Santosh Pandit was arrested by the Pune Police on Thursday for allegedly circulating objectionable and defamatory content related to Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil and a woman corporator of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The arrest was made at 1am without prior notice, which NCP-SP spokesperson Anish Gawande claims violates the DGP's own binding directions to prevent arbitrary arrests.

Gawande stated that all charges against Pandit carry a maximum sentence of three years or less, and that serving a notice of appearance is the mandatory default procedure. He added that conducting a 1am raid without prior notice directly violates the DGP's own binding directions aimed at preventing arbitrary arrests.
