BJP MLA's Daughter Booked for Assaulting Woman PSI in Karnataka
Aishwarya, daughter of BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda, booked for allegedly assaulting a woman PSI. Incident occurred at a temple in Mandya district.

A case has been registered against Aishwarya, the daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda, for allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman police sub-inspector during a dispute over temple entry in Karnataka's Mandya district.
The incident took place on August 12, 2026, at the Arathi Ukkada temple in Srirangapatna taluk, where special security arrangements were in place for Bhimana Amavasya amid a large gathering of devotees. The woman PSI, Savitha B., was deployed for security duty at the temple and was involved in the dispute with Aishwarya.
According to the complaint, Aishwarya arrived at the temple with her children and sought entry into the sanctum sanctorum. However, with the temple witnessing a heavy rush, the PSI allegedly asked her to wait for a short while. This led to an argument between the two women, which reportedly escalated after another police officer, Inspector Lakshmi, was allowed inside.
Aishwarya allegedly objected to the decision and used abusive language against the PSI, identifying herself as the daughter of an MLA. The complaint alleges that she slapped or hit the PSI during the confrontation and obstructed her from performing her official duties. Aishwarya also allegedly threatened the PSI, making remarks concerning her career.
The exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the alleged assault are part of the ongoing investigation. The incident reportedly occurred at around 8.15 pm, although timings have varied across initial media reports.
Following the complaint, Kyathanahalli Police Station registered an FIR against Aishwarya under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The sections invoked include Section 132, relating to assault or criminal force against a public servant to deter the discharge of duty, along with Sections 115(2), 352 and 351(2).
Aishwarya has also filed a counter-complaint, alleging that the PSI abused her during the confrontation. Mandya Superintendent of Police V. J. Shobharani confirmed that both complaints are being investigated.
BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda has apologised over the incident involving his daughter, stating that he was sorry for what had happened and that he would not interfere in the investigation.
The incident has sparked controversy, with many questioning the behavior of Aishwarya and the alleged misuse of her father's influence. The case is currently under investigation, and further action will be determined after examining the allegations made by both sides.
The incident highlights the importance of maintaining law and order, even in sensitive situations such as temple entry disputes. It also raises questions about the accountability of public figures and their family members, and the need for them to respect the authority of law enforcement officials.
In conclusion, the incident involving Aishwarya and the woman PSI is a serious matter that requires thorough investigation and appropriate action. It is essential to ensure that those responsible for the alleged assault are held accountable and that the rule of law is upheld.
