Naveen Jindal Unfurls 108-Foot Flags at Mohali and Kurukshetra

Naveen Jindal, President of the Flag Foundation of India and Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, has unfurled 108-foot monumental National Flags at Kurukshetra University and Chandigarh Group of Colleges University in Mohali.

The event was held in the lead-up to the 80th Independence Day of India and also marked the finale of the Flag Foundation of India's My Bharat Quiz, which engaged over 7,000 young participants.

Mr Jindal reflected on his personal connection with the Tiranga, recalling the administrative hurdles he faced when trying to display the National Flag at the Jindal Steel plant in Raigarh. This led to a decade-long legal battle that concluded with the Supreme Court's historic ruling on 23 January 2004, establishing every Indian's Fundamental Right to fly the National Flag with dignity.

Mr Jindal expressed his pride in hosting the Tiranga daily and displaying it on merchandise, and noted that the Flag Foundation of India has set up over 220 monumental National Flags across the nation.

He also renewed his call to declare 23 January, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, as National Flag Day. Mr Jindal commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Har Ghar Tiranga initiative and urged citizens to observe the Flag Code of India by properly recycling and disposing of old, faded, or damaged flags.

The event at Kurukshetra University was attended by prominent guests, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Som Nath Sachdeva and Registrar Lieutenant Dr Virender Pal. Three champions of the My Bharat Quiz were honoured during the ceremony, which aimed to foster a greater appreciation among students for the history of India and the meaning behind the Tricolour.

Meanwhile, the gathering at Mohali saw the presence of CGC University Founder and Chancellor Shri Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal and Vice-Chancellor Shri Vinay Kumar Goyal. Mr Jindal urged the youth to embody the spirit of the Tricolour every day and prioritise the nation above all else.

In his message to Gen Z, Mr Jindal stated that India belongs to them and that they should strive to resolve challenges and work towards a stronger, developed India. He emphasized that the National Flag should serve as a daily inspiration, encouraging citizens to put the nation first.
