Congress Alleges Vyapam Scam Accused Hold Govt Positions

A significant allegation has been made by the Madhya Pradesh Congress president, Jitu Patwari, stating that individuals involved in the Vyapam scam are currently holding positions of power within the government. This statement was made during the conclusion of the GEN-Z Cyclothon in Bhopal on Wednesday.

The two-day GEN-Z Cyclothon, which started from Indore and concluded in Bhopal, saw the participation of over 2 lakh people who covered a distance of 200 kilometres. The event aimed to raise voices in support of education, employment, and students' rights. Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar, emphasized the importance of the youth's progress in shaping the country's future. He also recalled the struggles of notable martyrs such as Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Mahatma Gandhi, urging the youth to protect democracy and the Constitution.

State party incharge, Harish Choudhary, highlighted the issue of paper leaks in the state, claiming that over 90 incidents have been reported in the past, which has adversely affected the future of many young individuals. He also raised concerns about the irregularities in NEET and other examinations, questioning the nation's education system.

During his address, Patwari paused when the Azaan began and later resumed his speech. The Congress leaders had initially planned to stage a protest and lay siege to the Chief Minister's house but decided against it as the permitted meeting area was surrounded by hospitals. Instead, Patwari and other leaders chose to give themselves up for arrest without causing any disturbance.

The issue of corruption and irregularities in the education system is not new to Madhya Pradesh. Recently, a case of scholarship fraud was reported in Bhopal, where ₹99.48 lakh meant for 118 students was siphoned off from a nationalised bank. The CBI is investigating the matter.
