Rail Wheel Factory Marks 70th Railway Week

The 70th Railway Week was celebrated at the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) in Bengaluru on July 8, 2026. The occasion recognised the organisation's outstanding achievements during the previous year and honoured employees for their dedication and service.

Manoranjan Pradhan, General Manager of RWF, presented awards to employees for their contributions across various departments. He complimented the team for their commitment, which enabled the factory to achieve historic milestones in 2025-26.

RWF plays a vital role in supporting Indian Railways by supplying quality wheels, axles, and wheelsets for freight and passenger rolling stock. The factory achieved its highest-ever production in 2025-26, producing 2,10,026 wheels, 1,22,000 axles, and 1,20,100 wheelsets. This represents a growth of 4%, 30%, and 22% over the previous year.

The factory also achieved record dispatches of 1,16,561 wheelsets and 40,869 loose axles. With the support of Zonal Railways, RWF procured a record 1.01 lakh MT of WTA scrap and generated ₹36.19 crore through scrap sales. The factory maintained 99.90% material availability and recorded an annual turnover of ₹3,005.39 crores.

The General Manager highlighted the factory's commitment to modernisation, including the commissioning of new machines and systems. These include the Automatic Ultrasonic Radial Scanning Machine, the in-house Primary Sand Screening System, and the Third Axle Machining Line.

RWF has also focused on sustainability, with initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, eco-friendly packaging, and a zero in-house landfill waste management system. The factory retained the GreenCo Gold Rating for 2025 and was honoured with the prestigious GreenCo Champion Award.

The celebrations concluded with a cultural programme presented by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rail Wheel Factory. The programme added a festive touch to the occasion, marking the end of the 70th Railway Week celebrations.
