270 Girls Overcrowd Govt Hostel in MP's Khargone

In a shocking revelation, 270 girls are currently residing in just three 10x15-ft rooms at the Government High School in Selda village, Bhikangaon tehsil, Madhya Pradesh. The girls, enrolled in Classes 6 to 11 for the 2026-27 academic session, are facing immense difficulties due to the limited space.

The cramped conditions are affecting their daily activities, including sleeping, storing belongings, and maintaining personal hygiene. Moreover, the lack of space is raising concerns over privacy, sanitation, and health.

A newly constructed Kanya Shiksha Parisar with a capacity for 500 students is ready at Saikhedi village, but the handover and inauguration have been delayed. This has prevented the girls from being shifted to the new facility.

Recently, MLA Jhuma Solanki and Bhikangaon SDM inspected the existing accommodation at Selda and the new building at Saikhedi. Solanki expressed her displeasure over the situation and informed the collector, assistant commissioner of Tribal Development, and other officials.

Solanki has given a two-day ultimatum, warning that if the process of shifting the girls does not begin within the stipulated time, she will block the collector's way on the Khandwa-Baroda National Highway at Bamnala and raise the issue with him.

In response to the situation, Tribal Affairs Department assistant commissioner Kavita Arya stated that all the girls from Selda will be shifted to Kanya Parisar Saikhedi as soon as possible. The concerned officials have given the necessary orders.

The situation highlights the need for timely action and efficient management to ensure the well-being and comfort of the students. The girls' plight has sparked concern, and it is essential that the authorities take immediate action to address the issue.

The new facility, once handed over, is expected to provide a more comfortable and conducive environment for the girls to pursue their education. The MLA's intervention and the administration's response will be crucial in resolving the situation and ensuring the girls' safety and well-being.

In conclusion, the overcrowding of the government hostel in MP's Khargone has brought attention to the need for better infrastructure and management in educational institutions. The situation is a reminder that the authorities must prioritize the comfort, safety, and well-being of students, especially in rural areas where resources may be limited.

The incident also underscores the importance of timely action and efficient management in addressing the concerns of students and ensuring they have access to adequate facilities. As the situation unfolds, it is essential to monitor the developments and ensure that the girls are provided with a comfortable and conducive environment to pursue their education.
