Delhi Boy Drowns in Madhya Pradesh Dam

A 30-year-old Delhi boy, Rahul, drowned in the swollen waters of Lahchura Dam in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district on Sunday.

Rahul, along with his two friends, Dhananjay Mishra and Rohit Kumar, had gone for a swim in the dam despite a safety alert issued by the administration. The three friends had travelled to the dam by car and had first visited Bando village to meet their friend Ravi before heading to the dam for a picnic.

The trio entered the water to bathe but got trapped in the strong current and deep waters. Bystanders attempted to rescue them, but Rahul was swept away by the strong current. According to reports, none of the three youths knew how to swim.

A rescue operation was launched by police and divers, which lasted for around five hours. During the search, Rahul's body was found trapped between rocks underwater. The body was recovered and sent to Mahoba District Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The incident highlights the dangers of ignoring safety warnings, especially during the rainy season. Authorities have placed warning boards at several locations, cautioning people against entering the water due to the continuous rainfall and overflowing dam.

The Dhasan River is in spate, and the dam is overflowing, making it a hazardous spot for picnics and swimming. Several accidents have been reported at Lahchura Dam during the rainy season as people continue to enter the water despite repeated warnings from authorities.

The police have informed Rahul's family about the incident, and an investigation is underway. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following safety guidelines and warnings, especially in areas prone to accidents.

The rescue operation was led by Station House Officer Arjun Singh, along with police personnel and divers. The operation was challenging due to the strong current and deep waters, but the team managed to rescue two of the three friends.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of tourists and locals in the area, and authorities are urged to take measures to prevent such accidents in the future.

In conclusion, the incident is a tragic reminder of the importance of safety and responsible behavior, especially in areas prone to accidents. It is essential for people to follow safety guidelines and warnings to avoid such tragedies.
