PFRDA Urges MSMEs to Secure Workers' Future with NPS

Abhishek Dhiman, Assistant Manager at Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), emphasized the importance of the National Pension System (NPS) in providing financial security and a dignified retirement to employees. He was addressing an NPS awareness workshop organized by PFRDA and the Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh (AIMP) for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The workshop aimed to educate entrepreneurs about the benefits of NPS and encourage them to promote regular investment among their workers. AIMP President Yogesh Mehta also stressed the need for MSMEs to promote NPS to ensure their employees' long-term financial security.

Representatives from State Bank Pension Fund and UTI Pension Fund explained the process of NPS registration, pension benefits, tax exemptions, and investment options. They also offered to conduct awareness camps at industrial units to further educate MSMEs about the benefits of NPS.

According to AIMP Secretary Tarun Vyas, this initiative will promote financial inclusion and long-term social security in Madhya Pradesh's MSME sector. The NPS is a voluntary retirement savings scheme that allows subscribers to contribute regularly and securely during their working years.

In a separate development, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized over 2 kg of amphetamine worth Rs 1.6 crore and arrested one person at a toll plaza on the city's bypass. The DRI officers intercepted the suspect based on specific intelligence and recovered four sealed envelopes concealed inside four salwar suit sets.

The substance tested positive for amphetamine in a field-testing kit, and the suspect was arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has been invited to the US for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program to discuss topics such as AI, digital governance, and future cities.

The NPS awareness workshop and the DRI's seizure of amphetamine are two separate events that highlight the importance of financial security and law enforcement in Indore. The PFRDA's efforts to promote NPS among MSMEs are a step towards securing the future of workers in the sector.
