Chinmaya Mission Sets Record With 8,277 Online Bhagavad Gita Chanters

Chinmaya Mission has achieved a Guinness World Record for the largest online gathering of people chanting the Bhagavad Gita, with 8,277 verified participants taking part in the event on May 9, 2026.

The record was set during the organisation's Chinmaya Gita Samarpanam initiative, which saw participants from over 70 countries register for the event. A total of 75,000 registrations were received, with more than 32,000 people joining the live online chanting sessions.

The participants chanted Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita, known as Purushottama Yoga, and the event was conducted through Cisco Webex, which enabled participants worldwide to join through more than 800 online meetings running simultaneously.

Nearly 1,000 trained volunteers helped organise the sessions, guided participants in using the online platform, and ensured that all documentation rules were followed. After completing its verification process, Guinness World Records confirmed that 8,277 participants had met all the required conditions.
