UP teachers to receive training for PM e-Vidya channels, enhancing online education

The Uttar Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is taking significant steps to improve digital education in the state.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET-NCERT), is providing special training to teachers and teacher educators.
This training programme aims to equip participants with the skills to develop high-quality digital educational content for the PM e-Vidya DTH channels. The programme is being conducted in two phases, with the first phase running until August 7 and the second phase from August 10 to 14, 2026.
Selected teachers and teacher educators from various districts are participating in the programme, which covers script writing, video presentation, digital content development, editing, and post-production. Experts are providing practical sessions on preparing digital lessons, enabling the development of effective e-educational content.
The Government of India has allocated 5 PM e-Vidya DTH channels to Uttar Pradesh, broadcasting curriculum-based and co-curricular educational programmes 24/7 for students from Balvatika to Class 12. The channels cater to different classes, with Channel 173 broadcasting content for Balvatika and Classes 1 to 2, and so on.
A repeat telecast facility is available for student convenience, and the educational content is also accessible free of cost through DD Free Dish, the PM e-Vidya mobile app, and YouTube. This enables students in remote areas to access high-quality digital educational content.
Dr. Pawan Sachan stated that the digital content is developed in accordance with NCERT guidelines, and a 12-member State-level committee reviews and approves the subject matter. Monthly and daily broadcast schedules are issued for planned use of these programmes.
The initiative aims to strengthen digital education in line with the National Education Policy-2020, providing training in modern digital content creation to enhance the capabilities of teachers. This will directly benefit crores of students across the state.
