Devi Ahilya University Offers 100% Tuition Fee Waiver To Former Agniveers

Devi Ahilya University in Indore has announced a 100% tuition fee waiver for former Agniveers, applicable to nearly 200 courses offered by the institution.

This decision aims to support former Agniveers in pursuing higher education and securing better employment opportunities.

According to Dr Rakesh Singhai, Vice Chancellor of the university, the waiver has no cap, and all eligible former Agniveers will benefit from it.

To be eligible, Agniveers must have completed four years of service and not been dismissed or subjected to disciplinary action during their service.

The Agnipath scheme, under which Agniveers are recruited, is a short-term engagement designed for present-day national security needs.

Dr Singhai stated that the university wants to help former Agniveers complete their higher education, find good employment, and start a new life after serving in the military.

The university's Executive Council has approved the decision, which may be followed by reservations for former Agniveers in the admission process and the development of special courses for them in the future.

Currently, children of serving personnel from all three wings of the armed forces receive a 50% concession in tuition fees, while children of martyrs and retired soldiers are entitled to a 100% concession.

Established in 1964 by the Madhya Pradesh government, Devi Ahilya University offers various courses to students.
