Election Commission Revises Maharashtra Electoral Roll Schedule
Maharashtra electoral roll deadline extended, claims and objections window open

The Election Commission of India has revised the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra.
The revised schedule was issued on August 19, following a request from the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer. According to the new timeline, rationalisation and re-arrangement of polling stations will be completed by August 24.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 31, and voters will have until September 30 to submit claims and objections. The process for issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will continue until October 29.
The final electoral roll will be published on November 4, nearly a month later than the earlier October 7 deadline. The polling station rationalisation exercise, initially scheduled to be completed by July 29, will now be completed by August 24.
The house-to-house enumeration exercise, conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), concluded on August 17. During the exercise, BLOs visited households across the state to collect Enumeration Forms from voters.
According to data released by the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer, the state has 9.78 crore registered electors. Of these, 7.71 crore, or 78.85 per cent, submitted duly filled and signed Enumeration Forms during the house-to-house exercise.
The remaining 2.07 crore electors have been classified as “Uncollectable EF” based on the prescribed norms and the factual status found during the verification process.
The Election Commission has directed election authorities to communicate the revised schedule to all concerned officials and political parties and ensure its wide publicity through available media platforms.
The revision of electoral rolls is a crucial step in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral process. The Election Commission's decision to extend the deadline and revise the schedule will provide more time for voters to submit claims and objections.
This move is expected to have a significant impact on the electoral process in Maharashtra, and the revised schedule will be closely watched by political parties and voters alike.
In conclusion, the Election Commission's revision of the Maharashtra electoral roll schedule is an important development in the state's electoral process. The extended deadline and revised schedule will provide more time for voters to participate in the process, and the final electoral roll will be published on November 4.
