DigiLocker and UMANG platforms see significant growth, Govt informs Rajya Sabha. Over 72 crore users on DigiLocker, 11 crore on UMANG.

The Indian government has announced that DigiLocker, a digital storage platform, has reached over 72.43 crore registered users. Additionally, the platform has seen approximately 72.86 crore document access transactions in the last three years.
This information was shared by Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The minister also informed that the UMANG platform has more than 11.66 crore registered users, with about 798 crore transactions in the last three years.
The growth of these digital platforms is in line with the Prime Minister's vision to democratise technology and empower citizens through the Digital India programme, launched in July 2015. The programme aims to improve digital access and ensure seamless citizen-centric service delivery.
As of July 31, 2026, the UMANG platform offers approximately 2,575 services, including 880 Central Government services and 1,695 State Government services. The DigiLocker platform, on the other hand, provides access to 5,437 document types and services, including 661 Central Government and 4,776 State Government services.
The government has also expanded the network of Common Service Centres (CSCs) to improve digital access in rural and remote areas. As of June 30, 2026, there are 4,07,122 functional CSCs at the Gram Panchayat level, with 70,069 operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.
Both UMANG and DigiLocker platforms are available through mobile applications and web portals, enabling citizens to access government services anytime and anywhere. The platforms are integrated with key Digital Public Infrastructure components, such as Aadhaar, eSign, and API Setu, enabling seamless and paperless service delivery.
The minister highlighted that both platforms provide secure authentication, digital document verification, and consent-based sharing, reducing the need for physical visits and paper-based processes while ensuring efficient service delivery.
The significant growth of DigiLocker and UMANG platforms demonstrates the government's efforts to promote digital inclusion and provide citizen-centric services. The expansion of CSCs and the integration of digital platforms with key infrastructure components are expected to further enhance digital access and service delivery in the country.
In conclusion, the growth of DigiLocker and UMANG platforms is a significant milestone in the government's Digital India programme. The platforms have the potential to transform the way citizens access government services, making them more efficient, secure, and accessible. As the government continues to expand and improve these platforms, it is likely to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens across the country.
The success of these platforms also underscores the importance of digital literacy and access to digital infrastructure. As the country continues to move towards a more digital economy, it is essential to ensure that all citizens have access to the necessary tools and skills to participate in this digital landscape.
Overall, the growth of DigiLocker and UMANG platforms is a positive step towards a more digital and inclusive India. The government's efforts to promote digital inclusion and provide citizen-centric services are likely to have a lasting impact on the country's development and growth.
