BMC Proposes ₹5.10-Crore Facelift For Bandra's Patwardhan Park

Bandra's Patwardhan Park is set to undergo a major facelift, with the BMC proposing a ₹5.10-crore revamp project. The 11-month project includes a new entrance, repairs to the security room, walls, toilets, pathways, and steps, as well as the demolition of the dilapidated RCC bridge.

The project also includes the installation of new play and outdoor gym equipment, seating, cobbled pathways, information boards, electrical works, and landscaping. The BMC received eight bids for the project, with M/s H & H Associates emerging as the lowest bidder at 34% below the BMC's estimated cost.

The proposal is currently before the BMC Standing Committee for approval. According to Swapna Mhatre, BJP corporator from Bandra, the park's maintenance was neglected due to uncertainty over the underground parking project, which was shelved after facing opposition from residents.

The cement-concrete portion where the underground parking was once proposed has been excluded from the current beautification proposal. Activist Zoru Bhathena criticized the move, stating that regular maintenance could have prevented the need for such a costly beautification project.

An H-West ward official stated that the park's current condition necessitates the proposed work, which has been pending for some time.
