Athawale Demands CID Probe Into Salve Murder

Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has demanded a CID inquiry into the murder of Santosh Salve in Gaur village of Purna taluka, Parbhani.

Athawale made this statement while speaking to reporters at the government rest house on Wednesday.

He assured the Salve family that he would take up the demand with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and ensure they receive justice.

According to Athawale, Santosh Salve was allegedly murdered after being rammed by a four-wheeler as part of a conspiracy.

He emphasized the need for a CID investigation into the matter, stating that Parbhani district is a stronghold of the Ambedkarite movement.

Athawale recalled the participation of Bhim Sainiks from the district in the struggle to rename Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

He noted that while relations between backward classes and upper castes in the district are generally cordial, the level of injustice and atrocities has increased in certain areas.

Athawale also addressed the Maratha reservation issue, stating that reservation for the Maratha community is its primary demand.

He claimed that, based on records, the community should be granted reservation under the OBC category.

Athawale pointed out that reservation has already been implemented for sections of society with an annual income of less than ₹8 lakh.

He criticized Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil's demand for OBC certificates for the entire Maratha community, calling it inappropriate.

Athawale emphasized the need to ensure that all Scheduled Caste communities receive the benefits of reservation and that the Buddhist community does not face injustice through the process of reservation categorisation.

RPI national vice-president Dr Siddharth Bhalerao, state secretary D N Dabhade, district president Dr Vijay Gaikwad, and others were present during Athawale's statement.
