MSRTC Concession Tickets Now NCMC-Only

From September 1, women and senior citizens travelling on Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses will need to carry a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) to avail government fare concessions.

The new system, which begins tomorrow, will issue concessional tickets only through NCMC cards. MSRTC has registered around 1.11 crore passengers for NCMC cards so far, with E-Bix Technologies Ltd handling the registration and distribution process.

Currently, the focus is on women and senior citizens, with other eligible categories to be covered later. Under the new system, women passengers and senior citizens aged 65-75 will need to use their NCMC cards to claim concessional fares on ST buses. Passengers must also keep their cards topped up before travelling.

MSRTC has circulated a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to all its depots for implementation. However, 'Amrit' senior citizens above 75 have been given temporary relief due to difficulties during registration, such as biometric authentication issues.

The move aims to digitise the concessional ticket process and streamline verification of eligible passengers. MSRTC has appealed to unregistered passengers to contact their nearest ST depot to avoid inconvenience from Monday.
