Bar Stormy Opens in Hyderabad

Bar Stormy, a new bar in Hyderabad's Financial District, has opened its doors to the public. Led by celebrated bartender-owner duo Yangdup Lama and Minakshi Singh, the bar aims to provide an easy and welcoming experience. The duo, behind cult favourites Sidecar, Cocktails and Dreams Speakeasy, The Old House, and The Brook, brings together a great bar program with signature and classic cocktails, comfort plates, and warm hospitality.

The 75-seater concept features indoor and outdoor seating and is set to become the perfect neighbourhood bar. For the launch of Bar Stormy, they have partnered with tech-entrepreneur Kishore Pallamreddy of Red Rhino Brewing Co. The bar's interiors feature local art and warm lighting, creating a cozy atmosphere.

According to Singh, the team was drawn to Hyderabad due to its exciting and challenging environment, with a lot of potential to expand their modern cocktail culture. They found the same energy, diversity, and potential in Hyderabad's Financial District as they saw in Gurgaon back in 2012 when they opened Cocktails and Dreams.

Inside Bar Stormy, conversations, good food, and great drinks flow with equal ease. The bar features vintage cassette tapes, warm red lamps, and walls that double up as living canvases through a collaboration with St+Art India and Guerrilla Art & Design. The Telugu one-liners—“Vibe undi” and “Plan ledu!”—add a local touch to the space.

The drinks menu is designed to focus on flavour profiles, with ten signature 'Stormys' and eight bestsellers from their other bars. Instead of listing ingredients, the menu leans on a mood meter, allowing customers to pick their state and have a drink follow. The flavours are familiar but cleverly reworked, with ingredients such as curry leaf, toasted rice, Osmania biscuit, and salan.

Lama, who designed the 19-foot bar station, christened as Yang's Bar, says that a bar counter is where conversations and great drinks begin. He intends to patent the design, which is designed with a bartender's movements in mind.
