UP Textile Sector Gets ₹5,354 Crore Investment

The Uttar Pradesh textile sector has received a significant investment push of ₹5,354 crore, according to Textile Industry Minister Rakesh Sachan. This investment is a result of the state's investment-friendly environment and policies implemented by the Yogi government.
Minister Rakesan stated that the state's handicraft exports stood at around ₹35,000 crore in the financial year 2025-26, with over 2 lakh handloom weavers associated with the sector. The state's textile products have also gained recognition at the national and international levels.
The government has approved investment proposals worth ₹5,354 crore and has provided incentives worth ₹322 crore to around 116 investors under the textile industry policies of 2017 and 2022. Additionally, incentives worth around ₹96 crore have also been provided. Entrepreneurs are being provided facilities including capital subsidy, 100 percent exemption in stamp duty, and 60 percent interest subsidy, along with concessions in land allotment and electricity.
The minister highlighted the importance of various textile sectors in different parts of the state, including the garment sector of Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, Kanpur's hosiery industry, Varanasi's silk sarees, and the carpets of Bhadohi-Mirzapur. He also mentioned that 17 products of the state have received GI tags.
The Yogi government is providing weavers assistance in design, branding, packaging, and digital marketing. In Varanasi, 443 students have received financial assistance of ₹84 lakh to help connect traditional skills with the modern market.
A PM MITRA Park is being developed on 1,000 acres between Lucknow and Hardoi, with the Yogi government spending ₹1,100 crore for this project. The park will have six-lane roads, a 125 KV electricity line, and water supply. The master developer has also been finalized.
The minister informed that CM Yogi Adityanath has set a target of developing 10 textile parks in the state. Under this, land has become available for Shilp Parks in Amroha, Bijnor, Sant Kabir Nagar, Bareilly, and Banaras. Entrepreneurs will get investment opportunities across around 400 acres, and the department will make land available to them at affordable rates.
The new policy to be formulated in 2027 will also incorporate suggestions from entrepreneurs in the state. With the expanding tourism sector and a domestic market of 25 crore, there are significant investment opportunities in textile and ODOP products. Minister Rakesh Sachan invited entrepreneurs to make large-scale investments in UP.
