UP MSMEs Get Global Push With Germany Trade Talks

A delegation from Germany recently met with Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary to discuss trade, investment, and technical cooperation between the two regions. The meeting was part of the Indo-German Gateway Program, which aims to connect MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh with the global market.

The minister stated that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly moving towards becoming a one trillion dollar economy, with a reliable and transparent business environment created for investors. He noted that around 14% of the country's total MSMEs are in UP, with approximately one crore MSME units operating in the state.

The bilateral trade between India and Germany stands at approximately 31.01 billion dollars, with Germany accounting for around 19.8% of UP's total exports to the European Union. Uttar Pradesh exports more than 404.20 million dollars annually to Germany, with major items including readymade garments, leather products, footwear, carpets, and auto components.

The Indo-German Gateway Program is a 12-month program that will provide assistance to selected MSMEs and startups in establishing legal companies in Germany, understanding the market, and connecting with foreign buyers. The program will also focus on joint projects in areas such as precision engineering, automation, electric vehicles, solar energy, and recycling.

The German delegation appreciated UP's strong infrastructure and business environment, stating that the program would not only focus on large companies but also select promising MSMEs and startups with a clear vision. They expressed interest in cooperation with universities in UP and increasing business ties through Noida International Airport.

Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary invited German entrepreneurs to the fourth UP International Trade Show, to be held in Greater Noida from September 25 to 29. He said this partnership would provide a strong foundation for long-term cooperation in trade, technology, investment, and skills.

The partnership between UP and Germany is expected to provide a significant boost to the MSME sector in the state, with opportunities for global expansion and increased trade. The program will identify units with potential for global expansion in the first phase, providing a gateway to German and European markets for UP MSMEs.
