Ex-Cricketer Rajesh Chauhan Booked For ₹15 Lakh Cheating Case

Former Indian cricketer Rajesh Chauhan has been booked for allegedly cheating a man of over ₹15 lakh. The case was registered at Mohan Nagar police station in Durg on Friday under Section 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

According to the police, Chauhan introduced himself to the complainant, Dinkar Vishwamitra, as a former international cricketer with close links to leading industrialists. He claimed that his firm, Govind Transport Company, had secured a contract from Jindal Steel in Odisha's Keonjhar district for transportation of iron ore and lumps.

Chauhan allegedly promised substantial profits and persuaded Vishwamitra to invest in the transport business by deploying trucks as a partner. He showed the complainant work order documents purportedly issued in favour of Govind Transport Company. Believing the documents to be genuine, Vishwamitra entered an agreement with Chauhan on July 30, 2021, and paid ₹2.51 lakh through a cheque.

Vishwamitra subsequently transferred ₹15.01 lakh in two instalments to Govind Transport Company's bank account for the proposed transport business. However, when Chauhan stopped responding satisfactorily, Vishwamitra approached Jindal Steel Limited and learnt that neither Chauhan nor Govind Transport Company had ever been awarded any contract.

The complainant alleged that the work order shown to him was forged and fabricated. Despite submitting written complaints to Mohan Nagar police station and later to the Durg Superintendent of Police, no FIR was registered, prompting him to approach the court under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

The court observed that the material indicated the commission of a cognisable offence and that the police had taken no action despite complaints. The court noted that there was prima facie evidence against Chauhan and directed the police to conduct an investigation and submit a final report before the court.

The police have started investigating the matter and will take further action based on the findings. The case has brought attention to the issue of fake contracts and cheating scams in the country.

Rajesh Chauhan is a former Indian cricketer who played for the national team in the 1990s. He has been involved in various business ventures since his retirement from cricket.

The incident highlights the need for caution when investing in business ventures, especially those that promise high returns. It also emphasizes the importance of verifying the authenticity of contracts and documents before making any investments.

The police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation. The case is currently under investigation, and further action will be taken based on the findings.

In conclusion, the case against Rajesh Chauhan is a serious one, and the police are taking all necessary steps to investigate the matter. The incident serves as a reminder to be cautious when dealing with business ventures and to always verify the authenticity of contracts and documents.

The outcome of the case will be closely watched, and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds. For now, the police are focused on gathering all the necessary evidence and building a strong case against Chauhan.

The case has also raised questions about the vulnerability of people to cheating scams. It highlights the need for awareness and education about the risks of investing in fake contracts and business ventures.

Overall, the case against Rajesh Chauhan is a significant one, and it will be closely followed by the media and the public. The police are committed to investigating the matter thoroughly and bringing those responsible to justice.
