A gang of serial thieves who stole tyres from vehicles parked along highways in Nashik has been busted by the Adgaon Crime Detection Squad. The crackdown came after a case was registered on July 15 for the theft of a spare tyre from a pickup vehicle.

The police team, comprising constables Dadasaheb Wagh and Imran Shaikh, along with personnel Sumit Shinde, Manoj More, and Shakti Pendharkar, made the arrests during a night patrol. They intercepted two suspicious vehicles, a Maruti car and another vehicle, parked on the road leading to Mari Mata Temple off the Nashik-Ozar Road.

Four accused, identified as Pravin Krishna Gosavi, Nitin Vishwanath Jadhav, Prashant Vishnu Jadhav, and Arvind Krishna Gosavi, were arrested and tools allegedly used in the thefts were recovered. A car and other incriminating material were also seized, with the total value of the seized property estimated at ₹12.01 lakh.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officers, including Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik and Additional Commissioner Monica Raut. The police have appealed to motorists to remain vigilant while parking vehicles on highways, especially at night, as further investigation is underway.
