Indore Municipal Corporation Sets Up 22 Health Kiosks

The Indore Municipal Corporation has launched the 'Safai Mitra Surakshit Shehar – Health Kiosk' initiative to provide regular health check-ups for sanitation workers.

The initiative aims to ensure regular health monitoring of Safai Mitras, who play a key role in keeping the city clean.

Health kiosks will be set up at all 22 IMC zonal offices, where sanitation workers can undergo routine health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and blood oxygen saturation.

Other essential health examinations will also be conducted. Officials said the initiative would help detect health issues at an early stage, facilitate timely treatment and reduce the need for workers to visit hospitals for routine check-ups, saving time while encouraging regular health monitoring.

A zonal health coordinator has been appointed in each zone to operate the kiosks in coordination with the respective City Sanitation Inspector.

The civic body will soon provide modern medical equipment required for health screening at all 22 zonal offices.

As part of the preparations, two specialist doctors from the Chief Medical and Health Officer's office conducted a training programme for IMC officials and employees on Thursday.

The training covered the use of health screening equipment, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, portable ECG machines, pulse oximeters, basic health management and necessary precautions.

Representatives from all 22 zones, the Chief Health Officer, Swachh Bharat Mission representatives and other officials attended the training.

More than 3,200 Safai Mitras and their family members have undergone health check-ups under the 'Safai Mitra Surakshit Shehar' campaign at Seva Kunj Hospital.

The health camp, which began on July 7, will continue till August 14.

More than 800 Safai Mitras have also been issued Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs, improving access to healthcare services for sanitation workers and their families.

This initiative is significant as it prioritizes the health and well-being of sanitation workers, who are essential to maintaining the city's cleanliness and hygiene.

By providing regular health check-ups and access to healthcare services, the Indore Municipal Corporation is taking a crucial step towards ensuring the health and safety of its sanitation workers.
