Google India Officer Booked Over ₹7.95 Lakh Scam

A defence PSU employee from Hyderabad lost ₹7.95 lakh in a fake trading app scam after downloading the application from the Google Play Store. The victim was contacted by fraudsters through a social media platform in July and was advised to invest through the trading app. He deposited ₹7.95 lakh in different bank accounts through the app, which showed profits, but his withdrawal requests were rejected and he was asked to pay a withdrawal tax.

The victim then filed a complaint with the Cyberabad Cyber Crime police station, stating that he trusted the application as it was available on the Google Play Store. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Google India's nodal officer for negligence. The officer was named as one of the accused in the case.
