Pangri, Talegaon Villagers Block Parli-Beed Road Over Electricity Dispute

A dispute between Pangri and Talegaon villages over electricity supply led to road blockades on the Parli-Beed Road on Monday morning.

The issue began when Talegaon residents alleged that unidentified persons severed the feeder wires and knocked down electric poles, plunging the village into darkness for two days.

This has also caused an acute water crisis for standing crops.

Infuriated, Talegaon villagers staged a sit-in demonstration on the highway from 9am to 12:30pm, blocking traffic for three and a half hours.

The Talegaon sarpanch claimed that some Pangri residents had deliberately sabotaged the feeder to divert electricity to agricultural fields in Pangri.

Formal complaints have been submitted to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and the Parli Rural Police Station.

Meanwhile, Pangri villagers staged their own highway blockade from 10:30am to 12:45pm, claiming that the 33 kV sub-station at Pangri had been non-operational since September 13.

They alleged deliberate sabotage of the main 33 kV transmission line and demanded immediate criminal action against those responsible.

The two protests left hundreds of vehicles stranded on the highway before local authorities intervened and restored traffic movement.

The dispute highlights the ongoing issues with electricity supply in rural areas and the need for effective management and maintenance of power infrastructure.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) must take immediate action to resolve the issue and prevent such disputes in the future.

The local authorities must also ensure that such protests do not disrupt traffic and cause inconvenience to commuters.
